Hi Mario, I asked how old you were because your post reflects a youthful thus inexperienced view of society.

It's good to see young people showing an interest in politics even though to my mind you're sadly right wing.

Maybe before you set up your movement for world domination you should get your hands dirty. Join a few community and voluntary groups in your area. Talk to people outside your usual social circle. Find out what effect some of your ideas would have on real people. At 18 you can spare a few years for research.

That's a bit rough isn't it? He's just a young lad starting out, there's no need to kick the sh1te out of him the first time he sticks his head up.

We showed that once in a generation a new party can break through, but that they better stay in opposition and leave government to the old boys OR ELSE.
If there is a future, it will be Green.

Accepted - I withdraw the comment - I was still in agony after going down on my ankle when I wrote it - pining for my lost youth when my bones would just bounce back without a hitch from such a predicament

They better stay in opposition...? But, but the old boys of your party are in government, and have no intention of leaving government, and your party supports them in that...

    You're not making sense, QM.

They were right up your street.

I disagree with nearly all your points but it's good to see people taking an interest and trying to think of ways out of this mess. Fair play to you.

Unfortunately, it's almost impossible to break into the political system in this country. The established parties have it sewn up. I'd love to break up this cosy cartel, but I'm running out of ideas as to how.

On and before anyone asks, I'm 47. Maybe we should all state our ages.
Well if the Greens would bring down this corrupt government maybe they are other left parties could work together and form a bloc.

when you have experts leading the goverment as i suggested they are controlled by the politicians. the dail has to approve of every meassure, so thats the mechanism to use to check that they dont get it wrong. but really to be honest there is a less of a chance of an expert economist, lets say, to make a mistake than someone who has no knowledge of the field and has just been promoted to the department from, say, agriculture.

18[/QUOTE] The vast majority of expert economists got it wrong for the last number of years would you include Dan McGloughlin in your list perhaps a list of your experts would be a good idea lets see then we can judge them from their record

    Ha!
Reminds me of the time P. MacLochlainn told me he welcomed the Greens to Donegal, telling me it's great to see "another" progressive party in the county.
We never called ourselves left. The media brands us as left because we are clearly not right. In fact we are making the old left/right divide old fashioned.
Sinn Fein are not left either. They put forward populist policies that please the poor and oppressed, but have never explained how any of it would be paid for. In government they haven't done anything particularly left wing. They are very close to Fianna Fail, just that they took longer to stop killing people. In fact Fianna Fail have more left-wing credentials, historically anyway. In their early governments, much of the economy was owned and run by the state.
If there is a future, it will be Green.
