    Interesting but as long as the current government holds on, won't read too much into it.

    But if the government's performance worsens, which is possible, they might regret not calling an election sooner.

    2004 Tribune predictions based on local election results
    Overall
    FF 60 (down 21)
    FG 56 (up 25)
    Lab 21 (up 1)
    Sinn Fein 9 (up 4)
    Greens 5 (down 1)
    PDs 4 (down 4)
    Socialist Party 1
    Others 9 (down 1)

    Whats interesting was that the future FF support was totally underestimated.
    Fine Gaels over estimated.
    Labour pretty similar to what it came out as.
    Sinn Fein was expected to make a breakthrough in Dublin which didn't happen.
