The Next General Election - Is Ireland an nation of of stupid ignoramus ********************wits?

Honestly, the more I listen to the likes of Joe Duffy ("ah Jasus, yeah, I've voted Fianna Fáil all me life"), and the more people I meet in real life ("ah Jasus, yeah, I've voted Fianna Fáil all me life"), the more I am utterly convinced that we are degenerate bunch of idiots with a national IQ in the low 60s. Until the older bunch of ignorant catholic (yes, I refuse to use capital letters for the word "catholic", because that corrupt institution deserves no respect at all) morons die out, can there be any hope for this country (which I honestly believe is capable of great things given the right guidance)?

Given less guidance by Civil War parties.

And yes, you're right, but be careful when Staropramen's around. That's his interesting demographic you're profiling !!

Maybe they can spot that you are a degenerate idiot, or maybe you attract degenerate idiots. I think that you should contribute to a modern Ireland by "dying out"

That's really funny, thanks - I do like political satire.

Now, when does everyone here think that - in their honest opinion - we will ever become a rational, intelligent electorate. I honestly believe that we deserve the profoundly incompetent government that we now have, but only because voters in this countly are so fucking stupid.

This is a democracy. Everyone has the right to vote whatever way they like. Be it out of loyalty to person or party, out of habit, because they feel bound to etc. The government (in the last 2 decades) is generally formed by the party with the largest representation + another. Therefore it is generally representative of the peoples wishes. Just because you may or may not agree with the government of the day or how they are performing, does not give you a right to attack the voting populace of this country who decided the outcome. If you don't like how the country votes, then move.
Politicians are wonderful people as long as they stay away from things they don't understand, such as working for a living. (PJ O'Rourke)

Since a politician never believes what he says, he is surprised to be taken at his word. (de Gaulle)
