No they didn't get a bounce. And it forced the Greens to once again tie their knickers to the FF bedpost - just after getting clobbered by the electorate - the last thing they wanted to do.

The FG vote was not needed, it was politicing, and bad politicing at that.
I've yet to hear a reason why.

    The govt hasn't fallen BTW
I know that. What's your point?

How the f*ck does it "put a question mark over FG's ability to govern"? That's just the standard anti-FG troll post, and I thought you were smarter than that.

Should Fine Gael not be trying to seduce the Greens away from ff, if it actually wanted the government to fall?
If the banks are out for a bail,
and Lenny's efforts end up as a fail,
    when the Somer does come,
    to the Country they'll run,
And leave a Fine mess for the Gael.

They already tried in 2007. The Greens will face decision time again in their autumn conference.

So they tried once. When the numbers did not stack up. And you are happy not to assist the Green delegates come to the right decision?

Right decision that is for fine gael ie an election. Crossing the floor option is now dead. But Fine Gael should try every means necessary to get the greens to untie their knickers from the ff bedpost. Have they not thought about this?

What would you suggest FG do in order to pursuade the Greens to pull out of government?

How do you persuade a party to jump with both feet into political extinction.
That would need to be a pretty strong sales pitch.

You assume that the Greens are just another political party. They do not fix conventions, nor would they turn a blind eye to burke/lowry types and their votes are on the basis of one member one vote. There are a lot of Greens who regret the day they took a short spoon to sup with fianna fail.
-They want to know that a credible alterative exists to ff.
    - that a fg government will consult with the wider green movement on environmental and social matters eg inclusion in social partnership
    - that public servants and politicians will be held accountable for their acts and omissions.
    - that a fg government would be decisive but also fair and transparent.

The 6 tds and two senators are bound to follow the will of their members. Their members are not that different from the rest of the population: they want Cowen out..

I don't think this is the case.. at the end of the day you are basically asking turkeys to vote for christmas. I don't think the 6 TDs and 2 Senators would willingly make themselves unemployed..because thats what they would be if they were to suddenly precipitate an election.
Lets see what the members have to say but I can't believe Gormley, Cuffe, White, Gogarty or Sargent want an election any time soon
