Could Fine Gael pull a George Lee type stunt for Donegal?

    Just thinking here,
I'm hearing they haven't got an obvious local candidate for the Donegal SW by-election.
Their Dublin South strategy worked wonders. OTOH their Dublin central approach of running a well-known local boy didn't deliver the goods.

Could they parachute in someone spectacular? If so who?

    No indeed.
Someone local, but not just an ex-footballer. Someone of substance but with a down-home feel.
Maybe an ex-president of the IFA or suchlike?

Anyway Eddie is one of ours.

You could put Albert Einstein up for election in SW Donegal and they would still vote for Fianna Fail.

Yeah- they are awfully anti-semetic up that way.

    There's always P. Doherty.
It's a funny part of the world, you might get FGers giving him the nod, or at least the transfer.
Watch out for him starting to wear blue linen tops and calling for a crackdown on dole cheats and immigrants.

Does he support your participation in this half-assed shambolic excuse for a government or is he one of the growing ranks of the dissenters who will be ignored by Gormley, Ryan, Sargent, Cuffe, White and (Ga Ga) Gogerty if they vote with the Government in the Confidence Motions??

Is Eddie Hobbs a Green Party member - if so he should declare this publicly..

Yeah but in Dublin South George Lee was the well-known local boy!
