    Well there is a vacancy.
If they drag their heels, it's a sign they expect to lose.
After all they're down 1 as things stand.

Hopefully the G Lee effect will mean similar candidates of high calibre will feel enticed to run. Lets have less of the publicans, sport stars and other mediocrity.

Their Dublin South strategy worked wonders. OTOH their Dublin central approach of running a well-known local boy didn't deliver the goods.

Could they parachute in someone spectacular? If so who?
You are overlooking the fact that George Lee was from Dublin South, and under the new boundaries his home will be in Dublin South; aside from his public persona, that gave him a certain credibility.

Donegal is a rule onto itself, they will only vote for a local so a big name would need to be a local big name abd bar sport & music are there any other big names in Donegal?

It will most likely be a local FG Cllr. that is run
Gareth Reid FG, just got a P-45 in the locals. Maybe they will run him?
