He isn't English. He has Irish blood in his veins. His parents were born here, as were his siblings. By that standard, Martin Mansergh FF TD, Edge from U2 and President Erskine Childers would be English.

I said if it relates to ratifying EU changes that it would be unsustainable that means unlikely to suceed.

Is Dana a member of Libertas?

And even if Dana won in 2014 (by then Lisbon won't be an issue either way) how would that make Libertas a political force in Irish life?

Libertas, in the unlikely event that they continue, will need to attract enough members and genuine grassroots support to get a couple of TDs elected at the next general election.

Do you really think they'll have enough members and supporters to pull that off?

If you're really that bothered about having an Irish political party which opposes Lisbon, is in favour of restricting immigration (including from other EU countries) and all the other US Republican/Thatcherite policies you support, why don't you get off your arse and start one yourself?

You could be the next Declan Ganley, FT.

Ganley has only Irish blood in his veins and is therefore Irish.

If he/she was an Irish citizen then he would be. We addressed that question in the Citizenship referendum when the Irish people reaffirmed the jus-sanguine principle. So Ganley is Irish. Blood is thicker than water.

No, they don't, because corporation tax is a 'direct tax', an area where the EU has no competence. We don't even have the lowest rates in the EU - Bulgaria and Cyprus both have 10% rates.
