Demoralising Non FG candidates in Dublin South

It's a long way from over but with George Lee at 1/50 and the next nearest being Alex White at 5/1, do the other candidates get easily demoralised?

I haven't been in the house much in the evenings so don't know how much any team is canvassing and the wife won't even open the door because of the baby, but I am thinking that both Labour and FF must be getting slightly depressed now. SF and the Greens knew they didn't have a hope and so won't be too bothered by their performance.

I live in well populated area (I suppose everywhere is in Dub Sth but I mean the house isn't in a cul de sac or secluded corner or anything like that). Anyway not one person form any party has darkened my door yet. The wife is a stay at home mother and is there most of time (or so she says !!!) so it's unlikely that we have missed them. Most days there is a fresh batch of leaflets delivered but by the time you get out to see who they are they have dissappeared to the next house. It is still early I suppose but for previous elections there was far more activity

Not one FG near our door yet. Labour and PSF both been round, according to the better half who's been in 24/7 for the past fortnight working on a project.
Evidence of others (mostly local candidates) doing the old 'sorry we missed you' note through the door chicken run.
Seems to me that it's more a case of FG putting their feet up and taking the vote for granted.

In your location you state Dublin N Side, yet now you claim to live in Dublin South.

    Make up your mind.

Dublin South extends well into the mountains btw, so it's not all densely populated. I know this from looking at the map when I was canvassing with George Lee

Never updated that. Since I still spend much of my time in the North inner city, I never saw the need. But I've been in Dublin South for just under 2 years along with my vote. I won't be specifying in any further detail, due to your evident stalker tendencies.

Well, I think it would be a mistake for Fine Gael to believe that the Irish public are absolutely in love with this guy or Fine Gael either. I rather guess, the attitude of the Irish electorate to all the main parties is a plague on all your houses, that is not to say he might not get in, as there is not a sitting TD contesting the seat and the electorate might be out punish Fianna Fail, for screwing up on failing to regulate the Banking sector properly. That said, Mr Lee even if he gets elected will be saddled by the Fine Gael Blue Shirt worship of the European Union. I think with Fianna Fail, once they see how antagonistic the Irish people are to the European Union, ( for example by a good result for Libertas in the Euro Parliament Election ), at the very least self interest will encourage Fianna Fail to start to put blue water between Fianna Fail and the European Union, whereas I rather think that Fine Gael will stay loyal to the European Union ship, until it literally sinks under their feet and brings them down with it.

I think General O'Duffy had an idea something on those lines?

I was talking to a canvasser who was canvassing with Jim O'Leary in the Dundrum locals. There were seven of them last night and they bumped into Shay who had a total of two canvassers with him.
