Joe Higgins to host on-line Q&A session.

This Sunday (24th May), Dublin European Election Candidate, Joe Higgins, will be hosting an open Q&A session for bloggers – a chance for them to get to know Joe, his ideas and campaign. The event will take place in a quiet meeting room in the IFI in Temple Bar, starting at 5pm, and all bloggers are invited.

For non bloggers who want to ask Joe a question, or bloggers who simply can’t get along, the event will be video streamed live online through this site, using UStream. This will hopefully give people throughout Dublin the chance to directly ask him questions.

I look forward to hearing his Trotskyite views...

I had a look at his website and saw the link about this event in Dingle/Daingean Uí Chúis. How many of the ordinary folk that went to it were anti-capitalists, never mind Trotskyites?

Fair play to Joe. I don't agree with his economics, but he seems to be one of the few politicians in this country in it to help the common man.

Higgins and most of his friends in the upper echelon of the SP (not including their general youth leadership) think that the average man is stupid. I know what they are like from experience.

They or some of them do actually look at online forums. I heard Higgins, Coppinger and Redwood (candidate in Mulhuddart in 04) all talk about stuff said on indymedia.ie before. And I actually remember Higgins posting a comment on the same site, although it would have been about 8 years ago or something. Generally though they wouldn't bother with this site much given how marginalised they are on it.

I was at a race night of theirs 5 years ago when I canvassed for Higgins and in the customary speech to everyone there Higgins gave (there were about 100 at it) he didn't even mention captialism and the SP being anti-capitalist, never mind their belief in what Leon Trotsky stood for. In short the SP don't tell people enough of what they believe in and some people, particuarly young people, get sucked into joining them not knowing that in effect they are a Trotskyite Communist party.

Did you know Fine Gael believe in fascism but they don't let on in public.

Watch out Darren, the Trots are probably under your bed RIGHT NOW.

As for the topic it's a good idea more politicians should be willing to use the internet and put themselves out on a limb. So fair play Higgins.
