Hanafin's PA embroiled in bitter poster dispute with Pensioner

Election candidate attacked for breaking Tidy Towns agreement - Sunday Tribune

"A pensioner has become embroiled in a bitter dispute with an aide of social and family affairs minister Mary Hanafin over his refusal to respect a local agreement not to hang election posters in a scenic Dublin village.

The stand-off has led to a war of words between Sandycove's Tidy Towns chairwoman Margaret Browne and local election candidate Peter O'Brien – the only politician accused of disrespecting the deal."

Attacking a pensioner who keeps the local streets clean, smooth move. FF sure knows how to pick'em!

These Tidy Towns groups like to think that they have some sort of civil authority.

There's nothing wrong with election posters. They do not factor into Tidy Towns scores. These dictats about posters are discriminatory against newer younger candidates, which is not health in democratic terms.

Power was actually mentioned on the same page! She had a big picture at the top of the page that was part of a soft focus article on young-good-looking candidates. The contrast between the two couldn’t have been more striking.
