Will Caroline Simons be the most expensive euro flop?

Latest polls put this windbag on just 1% support yet I can't walk down the street, get on a bus or a luas without seeing her posters. Libertas must be spending a small fortune on the campaign and yet she is set to be roundly rejected by the Dublin voter

She was the only one on Vincent browne that night who wouldn't say what her campaign was costing. Libertas not only to be paying for the billboards and posters, but also to employ people to but the posters on the lamposts.

Did everyone on the Dublin electorate list get a flyer from her in the post last week? Everyone in my house got one in the post from O'Malley.

There is more than just something of the night about Libertas.

But the grassroots will see her through!! Libertas will want to hope the donations keep rolling in from the ordinary people??

Imho, her candidacy is a mistake. She is not as clued in as the other candidates like Ganley and O'Malley. She won't get elected.

She was awful on VB but perhaps its only the anoraks who are watching that. She doesn't stand a hope in June and neither do the rest of the Libertas Euro candidates because, as always, domestic issues overshadow European ones and as Libertas are more of a non entity in Irish politics then in Europe they'll miss out on the anti Gov. vote.

whatever about the merits of Lisbon, Libertas were surely on notice of her limitations from the referendum campaign where she was by far their weakest spokesperson

She was indeed awful on VB that night - she performed well in debates about the Lisbon treaty though. She comes across as intelligent and speaks well. However, she also comes across as snotty, arrogant and upper class and she doesnt seem to relate to the ordinary citizen. There's no way she'll get elected.

Ganley also hesitated for a precious six months before declaring he would run. I will vote for O'Malley though because of their stance on Lisbon but especially because of his immigration-control agenda. He's on 7% in the TNS-MRBI poll, and may have greater recognition from the farming-community from his time in the IFA.
