Why didn't Libertas run candidates in the Bi-elections

Any ideas... I thought it was a bit odd.... i mean they want to get involved and to challenge the main parties on Lisbon, then why not in the Dail....

Would they stand a chance of getting a seat?

They look at themselves as a pan-european party.
A champion of the people emerges with the age-old and appealing promise of "something for nothing" - to be financed through every-increasing taxes. Supply and demand are thrown out of gear - the overhead goes up; the effective use of human energy goes down; the standard of living is lowered because money cannot buy wealth that is not produced.

yeah but if Ireland is to be the last and only country to decide on Lisbon, given their chances of getting an MEP seat, shouldnt they have made sure they had a TD or two who would have a profile in Ireland and who could lead a charge against the Treaty they hate...

They may be using the Euro Election as a testing ground to see what sort of support levels they have on the ground in different countries. Then when election come up in different countries if they have good support they may run candidates in these countries national elections

should have taken their chance in Ireland.... they wouldnt have won IMHO but all the elections together (By-elections and EU) they could have really got the media going and got some more coverage...

Then when Lisburn 2 comes up they have a few elected officials (i dont think they would have any (MEP or TD)) and could run a high profile campaign with elected officials....
