Fianna Fail & the Liberal(s) Agenda

Has it occured to anyone to take a look at Fianna Fail's new party in the European Parliament?
The European Liberal Democrats have a smogasbord of positions that would send the FF core vote running for the hills.
try this one for example:
Several European countries are, for example, violating women’s rights to control over their own bodies. Among others, Poland, Ireland, Portugal and Malta have enforced restrictive, conservatively founded, regulations regarding the legalisation of abortions. As a result, many women die after being forced into seeking illegal and unsafe abortions.

Resolutions > Women?s entitlement over their own bodies

Or try:
•guaranteeing therapeutic freedom, at the level of the relationship between doctor and patient, in the prescription of pharmaceuticals which have been tested and are authorised in many countries, but in some others are restricted or prohibited, such as: the abortion pill RU 486, therapeutic cannabis, pharmacological treatments (including heroin administered under medical control) for drug addicts, and marijuana as pain relief;
Resolutions > Secularism, Freedom of research and therapies

Or this from the same page:
•allowing the individual autonomy and responsibility in end-of-life decisions, first of all by ending the clandestine practice of euthanasia by guaranteeing respect for the freely and unequivocally expressed individual will, also through the adoption of directives of treatment and forms of regulation of euthanasia based on the Dutch, Belgian, or Swiss models, or on the draft legislation being examined by the British parliament;

I rather like this one though, same page again;

Secularisation of institutions and separation between State and Church is a prerequisite both for the exercise of rights and individual liberties and for peaceful coexistence among peoples.

So how come Fianna Fail candidates are getting a free pass on being in a party that is pro-abortion, pro-euthanasia and anti-faith schools? is it that nobody gives a toss about FF anymore? Or that the Liberals cnnot be as bad as the company they are about to keep?

I would like to thank FF for giving the no side all this ammo for the referendum.

Im sure that every party group has policies that individual parties disagree with, those highlighted here are not the main planks of liberal policy in Europe.

Not the main planks? can you imagine the FF canvassers delight if another party had policies like that up on a website? Does Liam Aylward believe that abortion is a human right and that women die in Ireland for the want of it? I can't wait to ask him when I see him.
Right is right but Left is wrong. Why do some countries need walls to keep people OUT and others walls to keep them in. Go figure!

But it has got nothing to do with the Lisbon Treaty.

Believe? This would seem to be a matter of belief alright. Either the Ff candidates do subscribe to a pro-abortion, pro euthanasia view or they belive such a regime is inherently dreadfull.

If the ELDR are pushing this in Europe and have it on their website surely the LEAST Aylward and co could do is dissacociate themselves from these policies? Or get their party to take down the lie that women die in Ireland for the want of legalised abortions?
Even a brass necked FFer should baulk at ignoring these social policies?

I dont think that rehashing the whole abortion debate is useful. it is a private conscience issue and fianna fail voters dont need to know each individual candidates position on the matter. The bigger economic issues are what people are concerned about.

Just because the economy is crap doesn't mean everything else goes away, in reality it’s the complete opposite. There are still pregnant women in Ireland who wish to abort their babies, so it is still an issue.
