The only restrictions on where candidates can put up posters is with respect to not obscuring traffic signs. Other than that they can put them up on any pretty much any piece of public property.

I was wondering this too. I seen one of a Fianna Fail candidate in an estate in Lucan.

It has always been an unwritten rule that posters should not be put up in residential areas. Something SF and FG have ignored in the SEIC

Yeah, it seems to be an unwritten rule all right.

I'll be ignoring it next week in some areas

In my area, there is a general rule that only main roads and "non estate" roads are postered.

I haven't seen any of Eric's posters up in residential estates, and I travel through the ward on the way to work so Where is it?

Bunting Rd is okay for postering, type's of roads the unwritten rule would be for Bigger Road off Bunting Road. If that makes any sense!
