FF may have to go outside party ranks to find candidate in North West

Just heard Cowen being interviewed on Today FM.He has admitted FF may have to go outside the party ranks to find a suitable candidate to run in North West.

Hard times indeed for FF.In the good old days TD's would have been queuing up for the nomination.

Obviously they know what the internal party polls are showing and are running a mile from the party overtures.

There can be little doubt but that FF are in big trouble. Can you imagine them throwing away this plum in the past.

Possibly they have Aer Arann chief Padraig O'Ceidigh in mind.

Methinks the once proud Soldiers of Destiny are now more akin to the bedraggled French on the Retreat from Moscow.

Do you know anything? No one is running TD's because of the dangers of a By Election!

Who would be high profile enough outside the party to run ? Who would be off their heads enough to do it ?

Why not greedy Bev, she would love that gravey train. The crowd up there hold her in great esteem, surly they would elect her and we would benifit as she would advise us how avoid all European taxes.

Heard him on the radio over the Christmas form the Arás, sounded excellent material for the soldiers, never addressed the issue never dealt with any questions asked.

Well then how do you explain the front page headline in this weeks Connacht Tribune.

Quote: 'PRESSURE GROWS ON O CUIV TO STAND FOR EUROPE'.

    In the article it states:

Quote: 'But senior sources within Fianna Fail have confirmed to the Connacht Tribune that despite his protestations, extreme pressure will be put on him to replace Sean O'Neactain on the party ticket'.

Or is the newspaper just making it all up?

It has been confirmed that Padraig O'Ceidigh was already offered it and turned them down.

Former Galway hurler Joe Connolly's name has also been mentioned.
