Nice Treaty Vote 2 Election Fraud

Recently a new study suggests that there is 820,000 excessive voters on the Irish Registry of Electorate.

During the Nice Treaty there was 2,923,918 voters registered.

Over 800,000 of these were bogus and should have been taken off the registar. The turnout for the referendum was put at 1,446,578 voters, or 49.47%.

Yet if we subtract the excessive voters from the registry we are left with 2123918. If this is the case, the turn-out on the day would have been closer to 70% rather than the 49% recorded at the voting polls.

Was there election fraud here to get the Nice Referendum past?

Buddy, thats the least of your worries.

Up to 10 Dáil seats were decided by around 500 votes each in 2002. In light of the problems with the register, this is a far more startling statistic

Hmmm have you read this book: The Aachen Memorandum, London : Weidenfeld & Nicolson, 1995 by Andrew Roberts - a novel by a rightwing commentator envisioning a Europe of the near future where the hero uncovers a conspiracy to fraudulently enveigle Britain into a federalist Europe.

Biometric ID cards would help root out electoral fraud.

I can't believe I was so deluded as to vote for that thing. I even went on radio to call on people to vote Yes. Almost hope it was fraud now so we can run it again.

No they wouldn't. A biometric ID would make no difference whatsoever. Adding a data item to the register that is unique for each person in the country (e.g. PPS no) and checking all the registers together to ensure there are no duplicate or dead entries would root out electoral fraud.

We can hardly ask the new comers in the union to leave. We are unfortunately stuck with this thing which ws never going to benefit us in any way.

During the last local elections I found people with three different addresses in the same small town.

There were plenty of prominent citizens who weren't on the register at all.

This was known by the DOEHLG before the elections and was one of the reasons they put forward for why we needed eVoting.

Is there any evidence that any of the outdated "voters" cast any votes?
