Deutschland says Libertas Nein Danke as Libertas fail in Germany bid for EU

Deutschland says Libertas Nein Danke.

Libertas fail to reach the minimum 4000 signatures and can not stand in EU elections in Germany. Ganley's 50 candidates will have to wait five years
This effectively flattens any chance that Libertas have of posing a series challenge in Germany. furthermore that they can not get 4000 signitures in a country with 82 million people indicates that ganley's pan European dream is concigned to the frindges of Europe and Libertas to the fringe of politics.

the Germans were hardly likely to support a party with so much far right support in eastern Europe.

Jungefreiheit: Libertas verpaßt in Deutschland Wahlteilnahme
NB NB this is not an April Foll joke !!!!!!!
Here's more from Libertas Deutschland leader Gebauer:Libertas: Unterschriftenziel nicht erreicht - Carlos A. Gebauer - eigentümlich frei

Libertas is an April's fools joke in itself.

I'd be surprised if I couldn't personnally organise 4000 german signatures. This is pathetic.

It's probably a different story in other countries, notably the Czech republic where a recent TV poll found up to 22% would vote for a Libertas-type party. Their support won't be uniform in every country, and in any case, there are plenty of other anti-Lisbon parties that will do well. Because let's be clear about this - this anti-Ganley campaign isn't really about Libertas and Ganley per se - it's about trying to foist Lisbon on the Irish people. Stopping Lisbon, imho, matters far more than the fate of a political-party. We will not accept that Treaty and when we vote no again the Lisbon-Taliban will have to accept that.

Stupid post FT a Libertas type party is not the US defence contractor led Libertas.

I'd probably vote for a "libertas-type party" if I had any confidence that they would do what they claimed to want to do.

Wild horses couldn't make me vote for Ganley's Libertas Ltd.

I think a lot of people feel that way but a Ganley or a similar character is worse than the anyone we have.

Amazing that they have started trying to blame bureaucracy and are claiming they had way more nmaes but that they could not get them verified.
Hogwash.................they failed on their own

500 names short of the 4000.
Also of course the names have to be verified otherwise ganley could write them all himself.

Zum Stichtag am 31. März 2009 um 18.00 Uhr lagen den Sammlern in Wiesbaden nur knapp 3.500 formwirksame Unterschriftsbögen vor.
Only 3,500 correctly formatted signatures were sent to the the Collection Office in Wiesbaden by the deadline of 31 March 2009 at 18.00.

Gebauer has claimed that Libertas Deutschland's candidates and supporters collected over the 4,000 signatures required but did not, 'unfortunately', send them to the required offices by the required deadline (31 March 2009, 18.00):

Unsere Kandidaten und Unterstützer haben an diesem Wochenende zwar weit über 4000 Unterschriften in ganz Deutschland gesammelt, doch an der bürokratischen Hürde, sie in den jeweiligen Wahlämtern rechtzeitig beglaubigen zu lassen, sind wir leider gescheitert.
Our candidates and supporters have indeed collected more than 4,000 signatures this week-end throughout Germany, however, due to bureaucratic hurdles, we have unfortunately failed to certify them on time them in the required Electoral Offices.

Those pesky German bureacrats and their petty nitpicking over legal deadlines.

It wouldn't happen in Ireland I tell ya!

Although that excuse sort of contradicts this one:

Wir hatten seit der offiziellen Parteigründung nur sehr wenig Zeit für die Organisation dieser Kampagne, sagt Carlos A. Gebauer, Spitzenkandidat der vom irischen Millionär Declan Ganley gegründeten Libertas Deutschland.
"Since the official foundation of the party, we have had only a small amount of time for the organization of this campaign", said Carlos A. Gebauer, leading candidate of Libertas Deutschland founded by Irish millionaire Declan Ganley.

Given your support for Lisbon which the Irish people rejected, I don't think you're exactly an authority on how "a lot of people" feel.

Indeed it wouldn't. Here, Ganley didn't bother registering a political party. He registered a limited company called Libertas Ltd.

That kind of thing would get you arrested on the mainland.
