Will Declan Ganley be the Royston Brady of the 2009 Euro Elections?

Will Declan Ganley be the Royston Brady of the 2009 Euro Elections?

I mean, will be the most hyped candidate?

    The most controversial candidate?

The candidate with the most media exposure?

And ultimately will he cause the biggest surprise by not winning a seat?

From what I can see of the campaign so far, he looks set for the first three of the above. However, it is early days yet, and not all candidates have been selected or announced.

I'm not sure what would be funnier - Deco losing, or him wining and being the only Libertas MEP.

T'will be him or the second FG candidate in east who will be hyped to bits but get easily beat by the Labour candidate.

This elections are likely to be a national referendum on the govt, for this reason, along with the general hatchet job the IT and RTE have done on Libertas, I don't see them securing any EU seat in June.

You mean the Royston Brady who was villified for telling the truth about what happened on the day of the Dublin-Monaghan bombings? It depends what you mean. Yes if you mean someone who told the truth, but no on failing to get elected. Even if it was a national referendum against the govt, that could also work in his favour in terms of an anti-Establishment vote, especially the old Dana vote. She was written-off too by the commentariat.

Why would this be a surprise?

He has no grassroots organisation, no political party behind him, and no Taoiseach behind him. Royston Brady had all three.

Wrong end of the stick as usual. Ganley has told the truth. What Brady said also later turned out to be true. Methinks a trip to Specsavers is in order.
