    Jan O6 RedC poll

An opinion poll in todays RedC opinion polls has the following results:

    FF 37 [+3]
    FG 23 [-4]
    Lab 13 [-]
    SF 9 [-1]
    Grn 7 [+2]
    Ind 8 [-]
    PD 3 [-]

Again showing neither coalition having enough seats to form a government, thus making the forthcoming election all the more exciting. Nice to see the Greens up 2%, interesting to see another poll showing SF slightly down.
The accuracy of the RedC polling can be judged by its pre-local/euro poll which gave the party the following: [local/actual: euro/actual]

    FF 29/32 :33/30
    FG 23/28 :24/28
    Lab 12/11 :12/11
    SF 11/8 :10/11
    PD 4/4 :-/-
    Grn 5/4 :4/4
    Ind 17/13 :18/17

You can take what you want from that, but it seems that the -/+3% is certainly in operation with RedC

    Rainbow: 43%

FF-SF: 46% (now tell us you won't go in with SF)

You're forgetting FF/Lab on 50%, and FF/Grn on 44%. It looks like FF will get to pick its dance partner while Enda stares in the window.

I thought you'd be the one to start a thread on a poll Andrew.

FG have dropped a few points since last time....it's just not happening for them is it?

Looks like were stuck with permenant FF rule!, and our votes should be to put a half decent coalition partner in.

Not a great poll for Labour and Pat Rabbitte. They don't seem to have the same bounce (if a 2% increase can be called a bounce) that they got in Irish Times poll.

More positive news for FF. The post Summer 2005 decline certainly seems to have been stemmed.

As for coalition options- FF+Independants= 45%.

If FF can poll 40% or above in the '07 general election then a minority government is very much on the cards.

Martyn Turner did a cartoon in the Irish Times in 1992/3 with almost that precise image depicting Bertie holding hands with Dick Spring while John Bruton stared into a mirror, oblivious to Spring and Ahern's antics. I think it was entitled Taoiseach's Tea Dance.
