    Voters want FF/PD coalition returned to Government

    More voters would like to see the Fianna Fail/Progressive Democrat coalition returned to Government, according to the latest TNS MRBI poll.

    The fresh poll due to be published in tomorrow's Irish Times shows an 8% increase in support for the current Government as voters favoured choice to govern post 07 since the last such poll in September 2005.

    PD = 3%
    FF = 37%

    PD/FF = 40%

    LB = 16%
    FG = 26%

    LB/FG = 40%

    It looks like FF and PDs will have to rely on the sort of the seats bonus they got last time round to have a hope of getting in without having to lean on the independents.

    Still, this should shut FG up for the time being.

    Its a long way til the elections yet.
    The standard of excellence is an infinite suggestiveness, naturalism is the one thing to be condemned.

    Will someone, someday please tell the editors of the various Irish newspapers, and of the RTE News department, that opinion polls are not news in anyway, do not contribute anything to public debate, are irrelevant and are not journalism.

    :wink: If you had to express a preference, though, better it's not on a day when Fine Gael are up in the polls, right?

    37% on its own is vastly superior to 40% divided between 2 parties and our 3% is actually 6-8 seats so things are looking good

    In fairness, I think I have condemned Opinion Polls on days when they have been good to FG, and this one actually isn't too bad for us in numbers terms, but it all depends on the spin that will be put on it by the "commentary" on it by the IT "journalists" tomorrow.
