    The thing is,Athenrycastle,if the FF vote plunges,I dont see how they will escape unscathed in Gaway East.Even in the last election,when the FF vote nationally was almost exactly the same as 2002,their vote declined substantially in Galway East.

    Any reason why you went for O'Keeffe over Ahern

    On past performance, they seem well matched and with the increasing population in the Midleton area, Ahern now has a larger pool of potential voters. I suppose O'Keeffe can present himself as having rebelled against his party though and he does strike me as more of the kind to shaft his running mate...

    On the last opinion poll, FF would be 50-50 for taking a single seat in Cork South-West, so I'm not sure O'Sullivan is that safe. Plus, the carry-on of his son on the county council can't have done him any favours (I doubt the drink-driving will matter a damn though).
