Obviously the ABs are private sector workers, which does not exactly sit well with the claims that public sector workers all have highly-paid cushy jobs.
the reason why you have a higher percentage opposed to the public sector levys is due to the fact that while the majority of people dont work in the public sector , the vast majority of people have relations who work in it , this is a small country and we as a people like to keep money in the family and while in principal most private sector workers think the public sector have it too good , at the same time they dont want to see their wife , daughter , son , niece or nephew who works in the guards , as a nurse , teacher etc , take a pay cut

its just self interest by proxy really

I'm sure they have relations in the private sector as well so it works both ways, and I'd say the effect cancels itself out.

I can only explain the sympathy in respect of the social welfare department. Workers in that department have traditionally performed excellent work and received very little credit. But now that the private sector has failed us once again and thousands and thousands of private sector workers are forced to go into the social welfare offices to sign on more and more people are seeing the extreme workload of social welfare workers and the efficiency and determination with which they handle it. I suppose the same would go for public schools and hospitals, albeit perhaps in a more long-term way, as the recession forces people to choose these public services over their private sector equivalent. The prospect also reminds people that they need the public sector.
