that the government parties aint gonna like it, though Greens may not take as much of a beating as FF. FG & Lab will hold or increase (expect increase), SF / Ind's will remain as is or within the usual margin of error

    Interesting and bold predictions.

The FG/Lab share in the last poll was very high and represented a big change from traditional support.

It seems to me that party support will drift back to their normal parties as people gradually get over the shock.

Therefore I predict that FG+Lab will be down and FF up.

The PD support will stay with FG though.

    SF support will stay firm.

Presume Kerrynorth will give us a preview....?
Re support levels - wouldnt be a surprise to see FF still being hammered. Not like they have been full of good news stories recently

Should be one anyway, tis 4 weeks since the last one.

How about instead of the pointless predictions we just list the things that have happened in politics over the last 4 weeks that could influence the figures.

    - Labour conference
    - Fás scandal
    - Pork recall
    - Lenihan's admission that the budget was based on incorrect figures (and his admission that he only knew about the downturn in July).
    - Bank Recapitalisation announcement last sunday

    Any other things?

Yes I am hoping that Kerry North will give us a preview.

However I think the results are out usually at 9pm on RTE.

Doubt if the Labour conference will make much difference.

Other things that happened are the generally poor economic backdrop. The change in VAT. And the hints of a second referendum for Lisbon treaty. None of these things likely to bolster FF but I still think support will drift back to them as they are seen to be taking the economic crisis seriously.

It is a very odd time for a poll (there are far too many anyway) but the numbers of don't knows should increase as fine gael's numbers retreat to the mean.

Yes, reversion to the mean should be expected as people gradually adjust to the shock. FGs support will leave more gradually than it came but (unlike SF support) leave it surely will?
