There is no doubt that international factors are a factor in the economic downturn ,but we will probably have one of the top three worst economic performances in Western Europe so you cant blame it all on "international factors". As for the public finances, the Government singularly failed to prepare for the inevitable downturn in the housing market. The woeful state of the Health service is also there but anyone voting FF in 2007 knew that already!

    Come be honest!
Come be honest! = oxymoron when applied to FF hacks.

    (1) FG are not credible. Their manifesto was based on largely the same economic assumptions as the FF one, and they offered no policies to really mark them out. Their bowing and scraping during the Lisbon campaign has also reawkened older suspicions as to whether they are actually Irish at all.
    (2) Labour are born losers and have long stopped being anything other than more of the same, as their tax-cutting promises revealed.
    (3) The only PD candidate was a plonker.
    (4) All other parties are meaningless.

So let me get this right: You based your decision on manifestos? Mother of Divine Jesus-are you 19? Everyone knows manifestos are aspirational to put it mildly. Can you tell me honestly that you believe the economic management of this nation since 2004 has been competent? Do you read the newspapers and realise that the cupboard of our finances is bare-there is no money for the rainy day that is now here. I take it you were perfectly happy with tax breaks to developers, being left in place, as the housing boom approached breaking point? Im genuinely interested in your reply but I wont hold my breath.
I speak as someone whose family is now suffering unemployment ,and you have rewarded these incompetents with another five years.
