    Ganley loaned Libertas €200,000

Declan Ganley (finally) revealed some information about Libertas funding on Matt Cooper's show this this evening. He loaned Libertas €200,000 from his own "hard-earned cash". This was one of a number, although presumably the largest, of loans to the organisation. Mr Ganley said that Libertas' total spend on the campaign was approximately €800,000.

Why was this information so long coming, and is it wrong for a private, and very wealthy, individual to be able to bank-roll a pseudo-policial party like Libertas?

    Well now.

    Well, well, well.

Why didnt he provide this information when asked repeatedly over the period of the campaign?

That's what I'd like to know...he also said that "hundreds", not thousands, of people donated to the campaign - which sounds like a relatively small amount of people donated large amounts of money. For political parties, anything over €645 has to be declared.

I do not remember reading anywhere in the Electoral Acts any Sections to the effect that a different law applies to Libertas re funding!

Mr. Ganley has today revealed he has donated €200,000 to Libertas. Under SIPO rules Mr. Ganley is entirely within his rights to do that. He has put his money where his mouth is and won. Mr. Ganley expects his loans, and all others, to be repaid by Libertas through fund raising events in the future. Mr. Ganley has also stated that full funding information is to be published next spring. I'd like to see the AFE release some of their information within the next week as they have frequently stated they will disclose their funding when we disclose ours.

    who cares ??

FF have stolen billions in corruption.

I could care less where ganly gets his money so long as its used to f**k up dick roche and FF.

FF are now starting to sow what they have reaped.

Typical though...FF created frankenstein and then they blame the monster when it goes ga ga.

Hopefully the CIA ,the kremlin and everyone else will fund libertas for Lisbon 2.

It wasn't Ganley's No vote, you twit, it was the people's.

And why don't we deal with Ganley's finances after we've dealt with the slush funds of the property developers, builders and slum landlords who have funded Fianna Fail for decades?

These are the ones for whom Mass Immigration was invented and implemented, with consequences we see each day.

Whats the deal with loans anyway ? Are they unusual in political parties/groups ? Do they need to be declared ? How much do other parties owe to anonymous people ?
