John Bailey is a Rastafarian & Tom Kivlehan is part of a sect that believes the World is going to melt

    Ballybrack

Both Carrie Smyth and denis O to hold on. Although they will be challenged by SF and a Richard Boyd B type candidate

    2 labour
    1 FF
1 FG Marren to top poll
    Last seat between FG/FF/Green/Socialist/SF

    Dun Laoghaire

This ward will be a Bloodbath.

    There are only two certs

John Bailey will defo take a seat as will Richard Boyd B. Then it gets interesting and with Regans daughter in the mix the fun will start in the FG camp.

    I predict

    Bailey
    Regan
    Boyd B
1 FF ( Devlin has become very lazy)
JDB for labour might just cling on but I think shes in big trouble
Last seat between Greens and MMOC transfers from O Higgins might save MMOC. However if the PDs manage to put a candidate up then I would tip the greens to take the seat over Mary Mitchell. I would have put Mary Mitchell as a cert before Regans daughters entry. If the PDs find a candidate and are still around I reckon he/she will poll 7-800 which will cost Mary her seat especially with a crowded Fg ticket.

    Blackrock

Baker to top poll followed by Niamh B, although her vote will be down because she is a very lazy councilor.

I expect FF to get the third seat but which candidate is difficult to predict. Conway has been invisible over the last 4 years and was nearly caught last time.

4th seat would have been a bloodbath between Childers and Boyhan but her decision to “retire” says more about her belief that she wouldn’t have a chance in hell of holding her seat. The greens will struggle to find someone to hold the seat so I will give the last seat to Boyhan mainly due to his work rate in the constituency.

Stillorgan will be an interesting ward. Geroid O Keeffe will hold his seat topping the poll again however his vote will be down due to his involvement in a number of controversial issues. Horkan will sail in as long as he gets an easy running mate. Third seat should be FG, however I think the second candidate has a chance of taking the seat off Louise Cosgrave who hasn’t turned up to a ANY residents meeting in 4 years. Last seat will between Labour, Greens & PDs. Labour have a good chance if they pick Lynch but don’t think he will get the nod. Former PD Adrianne Wyse could be in the running for a seat with Saul also having a fair chance.

Glencullen. This should be straight forward with Lettie 1 FF and Joyce nearly assured of a seat with the last seat going to FF or Green if Tom K transfers in. Although Lettie has been seen as a stooge for the manager and Joyce is a very poor candidate who has only delivered a halting site and social housing in Kingston to his area they should be ok.If Tom Murphy runs for FF then he will win the seat.

Dundrum with the loss of a seat hear this will be interesting. Culhane should be safe if they run 1 candidate.Jim O Leary should be safe but Hand will struggle as he is invisible in the area. FFs ticket will be a bloodbath. If they run the 3 old hands then they should get two with Tony Fox the front runner and a battle between Kelly and Matthews for the second FF seat. The greens will hold so I think it will be Pat Hand to loose out.

In Ballybrack, FG & LAb got 2 seats last time but are short of 2 quotas in a 5 seater. I doubt if Kivlehan runs here, which eases the pressure on everybody else. Huey Lewis could win a seat at the expense of Labour. FF will get 1. If FG run 3 candidates then they could be in trouble. I think Bailey would emerge as the stronger of the FG ticket then. Prediction: 1FF, 1FG, 1 lab, 1 Profit B$ people. 1 other.

Dun Laoghaire: If FG run 4 candidates this will turn into a fist fight. FF to hold their seat, Labour are dreadful on this ward. RBB will pick up their seat. Prediction FF 1 FG 2 PBP 1 greens 1

Blackrock -first 3 seats are straight forward 1 FG, ! FF, 1 Lab. If Willie Dockrell runs for FG he will take 4th seat.

Well, people. this may well be the last time I will post on this site. The above is an example of the unpleasant armchair bashing of nearly all public reps by a large number of trolling, nasty and insenstive posters. I don't know who you are Mr 63 but here are the facts- you will need some imagination and emotional intelligence to understand.
    1. My mother is 93 and has dementia. I am an only child and have enduring power of attorney.
    2. I am a psychotherapist in a profession which has a strict and demanding code of ethics.
    3. I have two dependent children
    4. I do not earn enough money to give up my profession.

The following was a day in my life: The 'last straw' day as it turned out. There are many other cllrs who could give you the same story, many of these have also resigned. ,( and also had to deal with this kind of reponse)
I was at a political meeting. I got a call from my mothers carer which led her eventually to A + E with heart failure.. At the same time a professional situation occured which needed my immediate attention. To ignore either of these would be not only immoral but illegal. An incident also arose with a child. This was only one of many such events. It became obvious that there would literally need to be three of me to do all of this so it became clear that in relation to politics, that there were only two possibilites. It was either up or out. The former was not possible.
I was reluctant to tell the press about my mother but advocacy groups feel that people should not be 'protected' from knowledge of dementia or the burden that carers carry. I am lucky to have help. Perhaps nobody noticed that the first thing to be axed in recent weeks was Harney's nursing home plans. Why should you? After all it is about elderly people who are politically invisible.
Anyway that is my story. I do not believe that I would have lost my seat. I would have loved to have stayed and would go back if even some of the above chan ged. I miss lots of things. The Greens are a campaingning party and you have to have the resources to run these things. It is not enough to be an 'ordinary' councillor. My replacement will have the freedom to do so. But at least now I have been able to spend a whole afternoon with my family.

There is, people, more to life then politics.
Thanks to 'returning officer, Dunny et al for being nice.

    See you again sometime.

Best of luck. Having become involved in the campaign before the last election and seeing the effort and expense involved in running for a council seat, I admire anyone who does so, even Greens & FFers. They get dog's abuse & little thanks & when they lose they're forgotten.

I think that John Byrne is a certainty in Glencullen-I often get newletters from him and whenever Senator Maria Corrigan sends out leaflets (which is extremly often), his name is always on it. I get stuff from Lettie McCarthy every now and then but her newsletters etc aren't very regular. Tom/Don Joyce, (i'm not really sure what his first name is as I've never gotten any leaflets from him!), will probably get in because of the core FG vote but the new FG guy, Neale Richmond (who I have actually received a newsletter from), could conceivably take Joyce's seat if he does enough work. Joyce just isn't seen as doing anything on the ground as he never puts out leaflets etc. The 4th seat will go to whoever does work on the ground and if Tommy Murphy gets out and does the work, he could take the seat on the coattails of John Byrne.
