Seems there are less polling stations in order to vote on this treaty. It is going to effect the elderly most.

Is the govt engaged in voter-suppression to help the yes side?
If so then it will backfire.
The younger you are the more opposed to Lisbon you are likely to be.
Perhaps this is why Cowen is so confident today in a YES vote. Remove the machines from the areas they are likely to vote NO and make it harder on the elderly.

There is no valid reason for the Government to make less polling stations available for the Lisbon vote than it would other elections and referendums. You can be sure if they are strategically removing stations, they will have it benefit the Yes side.
Marxists, Feminists and Leftists operate on the basis of "liberating tolerance" - i.e. their ideas should be tolerated, and any opposition should be suppressed.
What machines are you on about? Are you even passingly familiar with the electoral process in Ireland?Originally Posted by Ulster-Lad

Dan Sullivan. I was back but we still couldn't all have a vote.

I am refering to what is being said in the article that was linked.

Surely the State should be looking at ways to make it as easy as possible to allow people to vote? If this means free public transport for the day that so be it.Originally Posted by KingKane
Free public transport? Edward st to Mulgrave st is a ten minute walk max even for an elderly person it won't take more than half an hour to do it. We can't have an individual ballot box for every person, there has to be some scale to make the process feasible.Originally Posted by bobbysands81
Again, "Ulster-Lad" what machines are you on about? There are no machines mentioned in the article, we aren't using machines to vote with.

RSF have always had the elderly at heart - you have to love them.
