How does one become one of those people who actually counts the votes in an election?
I'm very curious about the whole process and would like to be involved in this capacity in the upcoming Lisbon Treaty referendum.
Anybody any info?
Thanks

Excessive interest in becoming one should automatically disqualify you from the job., i feel the same way about membership of the dail
If in Dublin contact the Sherriff, to be a personation officer for the day of the vote, then you might be able to count the following day. Referenda are very boring (bar Divorce one obviously). Just count the votes, check the votes, remove spoils, count the remainder, have discussion on spoils, re-admit some spoils, add. Wait for Leinster, Munster and then Ulster results to come in.
We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns — the ones we don't know we don't know.
Just get in touch with George Chiweshe. He'll sort you out.![]()
