The French voting system is a bit odd alright, but then so is their political system.

A murderous traitor to his oath .
    From your link-

"About Bastien-Thiry, de Gaulle said "The French need martyrs ... They must choose them carefully. I could have given them one of those idiotic generals playing ball in Tulle prison. I gave them Bastien-Thiry. They'll be able to make a martyr of him. He deserves it."

It was De Gaulle handing over thousands of Harkis to their slaughter and difference between him and De Gaulle is that he considered them to be French men while as the racist De Gaulle didn't (infact he barely considered the Southern French to be French) which led him taking action. I know a lot of people admire De Gaulle but the fact is that he facilitated the destruction of a lot of the things he rightly loved through his pig headedness and it has to be said brutality.

The pied-noirs were never a majority in Algeria, nor even remotely close to one - bar imposing a version of apartheid, it would have been impossible for the French to maintain control over the colony.

Around 440 to 450 seats. Not sure I want that. We will see.

That's why I didn't vote for him this time either.

355 seats. Majority even without the Modem.

PS down to 34, LFI (Melenchon) 19, FN 8.
The right (les Republicains) seems to have held up. I think I saw 100 and something seats, maybe more.

Counting down. 355 seats. Way below predictions. NF at 8 seats.

Hmmm its worse than it looks for LREM. Only 311 of those 355 are going to be from Macrons party, around 44 for Modem its sister party.
