I think the left/middle/right thing is becoming increasingly obsolete. Indeed, it might be said that Blair was in the vanguard of rendering it so. Macron appears to have both conservative fiscal policies and liberal social policies. Le Pen has the far right stuff but knows full well that she has to play the social issues cautiously. Certainly in France she does, and if she has strong feelings about rolling back certain laws, she has to manage the trick of keeping her core happy while not repelling voters on those issues. To that extent it looks easier for Macron, but Le Pen can try to parlay that position into a non-position.

Their one on one could be very interesting if the gap remains as is and she has to come out swinging.

Well he's no Seanie, but I'd give him one if he offered.

That's not at all a high standard to meet, however, it must be said...

On what dates are these head to heads? What is the format for these multiple events and what are the preferred formats for each candidate?

It didn't take long, did it? Homophobia and gerontophobia already manifest.

He's a vehement Europhile and the last thing we need is that.

The EU needs to cop itself on.

I suspect however that it's incapable of that or of reforming... and that after 2017 is done and dusted and all the national GEs this year are completed, that it will be back to the tedious mantra of 'more Europe' being the one and only answer the a'holes can think of for everything.

They've had more than enough wake up calls... and yet they remain asleep.

Marine is actually an even worse prospect than Macron... imo.

Neither of them is particularly appealing... not unlike the Trump/Clinton choice...
