    Westminister 2017 Elections, the Northern Thread

    Polling Day on Thursday June 8th will see an election fought so as to increase the size of the Conservative Party in Westminster. The Tories have no seats north of the border and are defining the key issues as
    1. BREXIT & 2. “Leadership” (ie white English nationalist populism)
    Last year the north voted against BREXIT and won’t have an input into English nationalism. The main interest is whether parties will enter pacts. Will DUP & UUP cosy up in the absence of Mike and the intellectual absence of Arlene and cobble together a shabby deal to avoid splitting the unionist vote, ie keep Naomi Long out? Will the SDLP agree a pact with anyone to oppose BREXIT ?
    Can Sinn Fein regain their green field in Fermanagh South Tryrone?

    There are 18 constituencies;
    Co Antrim; Belfast North, Belfast West, South Antrim, North Antrim, East Antrim
    Co Down; North Down, South Down, Strangford, Belfast East, Belfast South,
    Co Tyrone; Mid Ulster, West Tyrone,
    Co Armagh, Newry & Armagh, Upper Bann, Lagan Valley,
    Co Derry; Foyle, East Londonderry
    Co Fermangh; Fermanagh/South Tryone

    Each constituency has its individual issues and personalities (ie bigots) which will come to the forefront during the campaign.
    The idea of the thread is to allow a space for the debate of northern issues during the campaign and the outcome.
    Is it a given that Sylvia Hermon will be returned? Can anyone remember the name of the SF MP for West Belfast? How long will it take for Sammy Wilson to put his foot (or any other part of his anatomy) in it?
    In the meantime it’s the old register where trees are cut down!

    Are British Tories in the North funded from Central Office or by local donors? I ask because they seem content to repeatedly lose their deposits in Ireland.

    And that conservative dude got seven more than the West Tyrone conservative in the assembly elections.

    Roger Lomas - 27
    Even Susan-Anne White got 41, and she's a certifiable religious wingnut...
