Dutch General Election 2017 - Can Geert Wilders become Prime-Minister?

The big story today is that prime-minister Mark Rutte of the centre-right VVD (Liberal) party took out full-page adverts in several newspapers in which he invited those who felt unable to integrate into Dutch society to leave the country.

Dutch PM Rutte: 'If you don't like it here, then leave' - BBC News

This comes a short time after Freedom Party (PVV) leader Geert Wilders conviction for a speech deemed to 'discriminate' against Moroccans.

Wilders, campaigning with the slogan 'Make The Netherlands Great Again', is running high in the polls could be leader of the biggest party.

Will Geert Wilders win the Dutch election? Latest polls for the Netherlands election 2017 | Politics | News | Daily Express

Rutte's newspaper-campaign is a non-too-subtle - and perhaps desperate - attempt to move onto to Wilders' populist anti-immigrant / anti-Islamic ground. Wilders is having none of it and castigated the current PM in the following terms: "The man of open borders, asylum tsunami, mass immigration, Islamisation, lies and deceit."

Were Wilders to top the poll he would need the support of other parties to form a government. Rutte said recently that he would not be prepared to work with Wilders after the election. Wilders wants to leave the EU, stop Islamic immigration, close all mosques, ban the Quran and strip criminals with dual-nationality of their Dutch citizenship.

Polling takes place on March 15.

Looks like he is at least winning the battle of ideas, which is enough.

If he wins the popular vote for the largest party will the same libtards that used that one against Trump be available for a quote ???

like Trump, I suspect Wilders couldn't give a flying fook about them either,

It is quite clear the buble living libtards are losing Joe Soap all over the western world as young native Europeans are finding it hard to get good jobs, affordable housing and are watching the third world just waltz in to live on social welfare for life, it is what it is and no amount of "human rights" mongers and "discrimination" guilt sellers proselytising to the traditional European voter in their now dis-proven ultra liberal bollixology is going to change that.

The game is up, grass root basic politics is part of the reason Trump/Brexit won, the media and dipso "celebrities" living in their ivory towers are being ignored at last.

The need for "celebrities" to enhance their profile with pleading charity causes while not really trying to understand the causes is just nauseating, ISIS is here because a vacuum was helped along by morons like Obama, the thousands dead in the Med and millions more trying to cross via Libya likewise.

Instead of intelligent, well informed experts telling us what is happening in the world we get clowns selling us their charities and never admonishing the likes of Obama or Merkel for their policies, that would be political ?? yet the same clowns certainly can get political when it comes to any politician on the right ??

    wakey wakey time,,

    Not enough.
    It needs to be implemented.
And that's something I'd only trust Wilders to accomplish.

Dutch politics was along sectarian lines for a long time.

So much so they they had to have power-sharing between 1917–1967.

Since 1918 Catholic schools in the Netherlands have been receiving 100% State funding. Likewise Calvinist schools and also State schools. The State-owned schools are secular.
