If the figure of of an estimated 110,000 PPS numbers issued this year to people moving into the country is correct (that doesn't count thousands more who are here illegally), we're heading for serious problems. Posters can wave the racist and xenophobic cards all they want but these sort of figures are not sustainable, we might be able to absorb half that figure. Nobody is even talking about it, then we have people on the far left championing this cause and let's not forget those on the other side of the coin rubbing their hands in anticipation of cheaper labour and increased demand for housing which is pushing up rental and buying prices.
This topic needs to come centre stage, thought it may be too late. Anyone who thinks 110,000 a year is sustainable in a country this size either a fool or a liar.

A Fine Gael Senator is looking for an unpaid intern who will be tasked with administrative work and “detailed research”.
Dublin Rathdown Senator Neale Richmond, who was elected to the Senate on the Labour panel,  is advertising for an intern, less than a week after his party colleague Leo Varadkar scrapped the controversial JobBridge internship scheme.
