    Sinn Fein/Labour/Green Coalition

What is the chance of a Sinn Fein/Labour/Green Coalition in the next few decades?

What would you think of such a coalition?

If the IRA finally winds up, it could be a possibility.

Over decades? possibly. The traditional FF/FG vote has been declining over the past 20 years. If FF/FG were to merge, a broad left alliance would be a strong possibility.

Not if we have anything to do with it. FG are even worse than FF. While I think most of our membership could just about stomach some form of alliance with the greens and Labour, I would like to think FG would be completely out of the question.

It would require a FG/FF coalition government so Labour/Greens/SF have the chance to take over the opposition and expand their base. SF could possibly take some rural and working class votes, but Labour and the Greens look likely to remain stuck with middle class urban votes for the foreseeable future.
Getting over the 40% mark is where they'ld need to be. Labours ceiling is 20%, maybe the Greens could get 10% and SF 15%. But all of them reaching their max at the same time? Unlikely. What they have going for them is shifting demographics. Underserviced expanding suburbs will provide many votes for Labour and Greens, and rural decline will reduce FF and FG strenght.

oops. Mea Culpa, mea culpa. In that case I would have no problem with the proposal, providing left wing independents and the socialists were involved as well.

That merger is far far fetched....Comparibly it makes a FF-SF merger look like a very real likelihood.
Don't make me bitch slap you Shane, because I will if I have to.

Is that a SF or FF viewpoint?
