Do you mean we wouldnt get any. This is the problem with irish politics.Maybe telling the truth and doing what you promise instead of trying to please the whole electorate. For two long political partys try to give everything to all different sectors of society and then end up pleasing none.

    thats how it works
you have to please people as many as you can
if you restrict you support to one legged lesbians your chances of long term appeal is very limited

Well I guess I dont see it like that. You would have to reassure area like teachers nurses would not be affected but even increases while all this middle management and all these other area of the public sector would have to be put.

They'll never get into power", etc. That sort of thing is a self-fulfilling prophecy: OF COURSE if you don't vote for anyone other than FF/FG, no one else will get into power! Isn't this kinda MEANT to be the point of democracy? That we can replace the eejits in power with people that can do something? But so far, unless you count the electoral union between a few tiny socialist parties(AKA, The ULA), THERE HAS BEING NO NEW PARTIES! Even though we complain constantly about those in power, even though a lot of people feel that none of the parties support their views, there still have being no new political parties. I mean, What's the point of democracy here, if we aren't going to try and get change when we want it?
Change occurs slowly by necessity, and works towards creating a better place for all, but only in time.

Have patience and trust, and do the small things well.

Where would the new party recruit it's talent from?
    Fianna Fail-toxic beyond redemption now.
Fine Gael-chancers whose pitch is 'we're not Fianna Fail, (but we're the next best thing)'
Labour- an embarassment whose pitch is 'we have nothing whatsoever to do with Ireland, and we could be a great opposition party in any country anywhere'
The media- recent experience suggests they're too thin skinned and preoccupied with being 'liked'.

A new party, a different party will have to come from outside the current and recent political classes, but there's a lot of barriers to overcome; registration, Dail-funding, legalities to observe. That's the catch, you need full time professional organisers to set up a party, and you can't get full-time organisers until you are a party.
Can the Clann na nGael franchise be relaunched? They're probably all gone now. Nobody can remember what that party stood for; so it's spirit lives on!

I think I'll stick with Labour then as I'm not assured as you say above.

Lack of Government properly enforced regulation and the cutting income tax to unsustainably low levels are some of the main causes of our current economic difficulties.

One the biggest causes was our low interest rates on loans. Why did we have low interest rates.
Because of the ECB.Also alot of the issue was all the grants and tax breaks given to builders.

I forgot to add to my list sound money.
