I would have thought it was lack of experience that almost got him elected. Then it became irrefutable that he had bags of experience and that was the end of him.

I also fear for our future if a TV celebrity is what the youth vote for ?

What next Amanda Brunker as a TD with maybe some character that wins The Apprentice or Celebrity Chef.

    That's correct.

It's hilarious the way Whelan was saying that the new media (mentioning politics.ie) called it wrong.

I think he was referring to people like me. I said this thing about his hidden FF membership was a slow burner and I was absolutely right.

Given the collapse in his vote, I would be willing to speculate that even without Monday night's bombshell, he still would have lost.

Even if I'm wrong on that, I predicted that more would come out, and that he would eventually get his comeupance.

You called it wrong Mr. Whelan. We called it right.

The determination of Fianna Fáil to celebrate the sympathy vote their candidate in Dublin West got is just pathetic spin.

This was a terrible day for them.

In fairness hammer none of the above are illegal or in contravention of anything. Gallagher didn't beaten on any of those issues, if he did then business people can forget about running for political office.

Collecting donations for FF is what beat him, the rest is just rubbish.

Lack of experience? Sean Gallagher has been an FF backroom boy for a few decades????? Would he say the same about Fergus Finlay if he had run and lost?????? Whelan is pathetic!

Wrong. Lying about collecting donations for FF is what beat him.

I'd prefer to see the EI grants probed as it seems convenient that a FF fundraiser getting grants for a failing company is a big problem. I'd like to think that if you went before EI that you'd get a fair chance - especially since we need jobs so desperately.

Would avoid using that word myself but being economical with the truth is what took him down. People asking who are the investors in his company are just mud slinging and none of that worked the previous week, they should know better.

If his EI grants are probed then every grant given to a company from EI should be probed. In fairness a lot of companies get grants at start-up stage and he was employing 100 people prior to the downturn and still employs twenty, on those employees taxes alone those grants are well repaid to the exchequer.
