Gallagher considers career in politics if presidency bid fails

    Bye bye Micheal Martin?

I suspect that was the plan all along - build a nationwide profile to launch FF nua with Gallagher at it's head backed by FF's construction industry buddies and others in big business - in an effort to maintain the old two and a half party system.

Hard to do that without a Dail seat. Many in FF would look askance at him turning up as a parachutist in any constituency out side Louth or Cav/Mon, so his options are limited.

That said, maybe he'd have a run at the locals?

Uuuuh I can nearly hear the interviews:

"now let me be very clear on this because I always tell the truth.
I was an independent 'presidential' candidate but I never left de oridinary grassroots party"
