Polling Card: Have You Got Yours?

Over the past few weeks, I've been receiving personalised election pamphlets from the various candidates, which leads me to think that I'm on the electoral register. However, it just dawned on me this morning that I haven't received a polling card. I'm now concerned that I won't get my opportunity to vote tomorrow.

Can anybody on P.ie tell me if the candidates would use the most up to date electoral register, or is it possible they would be working off an old one and I am actually not on the register.

I haven't moved house since the General Election in March.

If a polling card doesn't arrive, should I just show up at my regular polling station with a passport?

    Thanks.

Show up with your passport or drivers licence. I've been missed a couple of times, but have turned up anyway.

They'll just have to check your address to see what polling booth you're to go to.

got mine earlier on this week.

i was getting worried too as usually it turns up quicker than this.

i checked the register online though so i KNEW all my family is on it and worst comes to worse i could turn up with the passport.

but theres definetly something up with the post, ALOT of people were on the radio saying they havent got the referendum leaflet yet !

could be down to the weather though, i got an email off head office to tell me the registered mail i was supposed to get was going to be delayed so maybe thats spilled over to the regular post

    Try the Register.phone the council.

Mind you I have mine. I don't recall where I collected it. I may have went to someones office to collect it. I don't recall. I think I brought it back with me to my house. I'm unsure. It was in an envelope. It may have been a polling card inside. I don know. If it was I'm sure I would use it for it's intended purpose.

Did you pass the polling card on to someone?

I have been told by someone involved in the polling that there will be a change in procedure at polling stations this time. When you arrive & confirm your identity, instead of just being handed the the 3 ballots, you will be asked which, if any, you would like to vote for.
Does that not strike anyone else as strange? After all people have already made the effort to show up at the polling stations & then you are asked if you are sure you want to vote?? This could have a major impact on the numbers of people voting in the referendums. When given the choice of not voting many people may just not bother.

All you need is a photo ID.

The polling card itself does not constitute evidence of identity. It is just a reminder to vote. All you need is proof of identification, which you may be required to produce, provided you are entitled to vote. If in doubt, check Check the Register.

A passport or driving licence is among the acceptable documents. Other acceptable forms of identification include an employee identity card featuring a photograph or a student ID card issued by an educational institution and containing a photograph.

You may also bring a birth certificate or a travel document featuring a name and photograph. Credit cards and cheque cards are also acceptable, as are bank, savings or credit union books containing your address in the constituency.

Incidentally, the General Election was in February!
