    Fianna Fail approach Greens

Fianna Fail have this evening confirmed that contact has been made with the Green Party with a view to an early exchange of policy position papers and documents with a view to establishing the extent to which their respective policy approaches have a basis for further discussion.

So does this mean Trevor's statement had the desired effect? Or is this contact aimed at Labour?

this conforms what i have been saying....

ahern and ff are worried that the pd/independent option will not be very stable.....and they mush be balking at the prospect.....

this explains the delay. if ff/pd/ind was a viable option then it would have been all sewn up by now......

looks like enda's chances have taken a bit of a boost so. i cant imagine that the pds will be delighted with ff for making this move.......

At last, someone found them. Does that mean they're out of conclave?

Hopefully mutual ground can be agreed between the 2 parties, both will ahve to compromise to a certain extent. The Greens should be happy if they can implement their green energy policies and education reforms, but I can't see much budging on the corporate donation issue and many of the Green's agriculture proposals. A FF Green government would be interesting to see in action.

are you an eternal optimist or what Rover.

Enda Kenny simply has no chance of becoming Taoiseach given the current Dail numbers.

Bertie is doing what any good politician would do. Play one potential partner off against the other, to make sure that whoever he does a deal with, he gets the best deal.

    FF/PD/GREEN Govt.

I suspect that FF will form coalition with both PDs and GREENS with the option of pulling in independants later if the GREENS decide to pull out anytime during 5 year Term.

    but again....thats nonsense

no matter what happens.....ahern is always going to get the best deal from pds and independents. he holds all the cards againts them (pds on the brink and independents looking for some job security)

so why is he wasting his time with the greeens - who he knows will only make some very firm demands of him?????

i think im right on this one

The Greens will be less stable then the PDs but will bring more innovation and input to a range of areas. The Greens will stir it up a bit and keep FF fresh. They will also provide more substantial fig leaf to FF and stop the public getting broody.
