    Thank you

Thanks to everyone who participated in Politics.ie over the past four and a half years, and of course in particular the general election campaign.

It's been a pretty busy time for me over the past few weeks in particular, taking last week off from the day job to work on Politics.ie and of course election day itself.

Over the past few years Politics.ie has broken some great stories (and polls of course!) first, we've been quoted a huge number of times in the press (it already seemed at one point that a journalist was providing copy to his editor by just copy and pasting Politics.ie!).

The Twitter service was great for us I feel, we'd an amazing response to it - and I'll be looking at how we can incorporate that service into Politics.ie in future.

So, if you'd like to thank Politics.ie, please feel free to say a few nice words, tell your friends about the website, but most importantly, thank us with cash.

Politics.ie is nominating Barretstown. Barretstown is a specially-designed camp for children with serious illnesses - primarily cancer and serious blood diseases - from Ireland, Britain and throughout Europe, and their families.

On my part, I'll be making a donation to them over the coming days, a proportion from the fees I've earned from media work (radio, print and online) over the past couple of weeks. So, I'd like to suggest people consider making a donation (of whatever size) to Barretstown. You can use the paypal button on the Politics.ie Homepage to donate to the Politics.ie Barretstown Fund - or you can make your own arrangements.

Jaysus how are we going to keep ourselves entertained without another Election.

You need to get the US Presidential Election Forum going.

Well Done Daithi on the site

Brilliant site Dave. Just discovered it this time 'round, but an invaluable resource, and a great way of brining all of us political hacks together between quintennial trips to counts in the RDS!

Maybe next time you should give 2% of the people the option to use the PD logo. We seem to be saturated with PD's here.

Totally out of context with the national average

I hate to tell you, David, but I hear there are some worries in the parties that we may have another general election this side of Christmas. With yet more allegations against Ahern a-coming, one TD facing bankrupcy, a couple of FF TDs suspected of having broken spending limits massively and possibly losing their seats because of it, an independent with heart trouble, the parties are all planning to start clearing their debts in double quick time in order to build up cash reserves to be ready for another election . . . yikes. (A friend of mine, a new TD, got the fright of his life at a party celebration when one of the senior headquarters staff told him "I don't mean to worry you, but we don't expect this Dáil to last long. Clear your debts fast and build up a war chest. You might be on the doorsteps again in November". The new TD finished his pint in double quick time in shock, and responded "oh ************************")

Top site David, it has kept me glued to a computer through the election and increased my intrest in politics!

    Well done!
The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money.

I'm shocked to see that I joined up on 5th February, 2003. Well done Dave. You're responsible for me wasting over 4 years of my life!

Ah you know I appreciate it!
