How did I get it so wrong???

This is intended as a “mea culpa” thread, so please just add your own most embarrassing comment or prediction on the election campaign, rather than all you FFers taking the opportunity to gloat at the discomfiture of right-thinking posters who just happened, sadly, to get it badly wrong, this once, for now at least.

Here’s my contribution, the conclusion of a piece posted on Weds 16th May 2007 under the heading

    “Where are the Alternative Rottweilers?”

“Things must be getting fairly tense in the Fuhrer Bunker (aka FF election HQ in Treasury buildings). I’ve seen something similar in the movie Downfall. I wonder who’s playing FF's Bruno Ganz? Hardly Bertie, he doesn’t seem to have the hysterical bit in his make up - could it be the Bull O’Donoghue? I haven’t seen much of him so far, though they may be saving him for the last leg next week. Scary thought.”

    FF losing 20 seats.
    SF getting 12 seats.

Supporting Pat Rabbittee and having serious worries about him.

I think I was talking about the PDs coming back with at least five saying that Mcdowell, Parlon, O'Donnell and O'Malley were all safe. John Gormley just said the Greens want to be in government Yipee!

Gaelach, this is a confessional thread for the original sinners only, not for FF gloaters to retail our mistakes second-hand!

i thought mary lou would take the 4th seat in dublin central; i was obviously confused by the idea that the mandate would be granted by the voters rather than by bertie.....

I thought dear old PJ Mara would die of shame during the first 2 1/2 weeks of the campaign: in the end it is a triumph.

Mind you my analysis was based on a total of 120 for FF+FG that would then be divided in proportion to their 1st prference votes.

In the end we have 130 divided in proportion to 1st preference votes.
FF have moved up from 36-37% to 41.6%..
FG have held steady at 27.3%,
