Support the Fine Gael / Labour coalition in the election.
I used to be a Fianna Fail supporter but left because I felt unable to "Rise and follow Charlie", and my resolution was hardened after the last election when I saw all the broken promises from the government.
This time they are issuing falsehoods about the opposition as was reported in yesterday’s Irish Independent.
For instance:
An Taoiseach had to admit the claim that Fine Gael tax proposals will benefit 2 million tax payers and not 3% as he had claimed.
He had to admit there was no provision for Cystic Fibrosis suffers in the National Development Plan as he had originally claimed. He only admitted that when Bryan Dobson opened the plan in front of him.
The Fianna fail ministers don't know how much the co-location hospital plan will cost.
The Irish Independent reports that An Taoiseach admitted that Sinn Fein's criminal and IRA links are no longer a barrier to sharing power despite previous protestations to the contrary. I believe if the numbers warrant it they will go into coalition with Sinn Fein to stay in power.
The above are just a few examples of their approach to the electorate.
I believe it will be bad for democracy, bad for the country, and bad for Fianna Fail if they are returned to power after ten years in office.
Democracy and the country will suffer because we will effectively become a one party state.
Fianna Fail need a period in opposition to refresh themselves and reassess their policies and to get out from under the influence of the "likely lads" we see in the tent at the Galway races.
