Who would replace The Bert ?

Just supposing that there is enough dirt thrown up by the Mahon Tibunal for mud to stick on normally Teflon Bertie, allowing potential Coalition partners to demand his removal as a precondition for their support, who would be favourite to be his replacement ?

Personally, I think Dermot Aherne would win.

Cowen seems inevitable as the next FF leader even if a lot of people would disagree with this choice.

I think both his attendance at the tribunal and his loyalty to Bertie could affect Cowen, keep your eye on Brian Lenihan.

I'd like to see Michael Martin get it at some stage but it has to be Cowen next time.

Michael Martin hasn't a hope in hell of leading FF, after the Nursing Homes fiasco. What Minister goes late to a meeting and doesn't ask what went on before he came in? What Minister doesn't ask his adviser to brief him befor going into a meeting? People in Cork know this, why do you think there is a swing to FG in Cork? It's because MM won't/can't become leader of FF. Dermot Aherne not a hope, this is a guy who was sent up every tree in North County Dublin and London to see if Raphael, Patrick, Damien (Omen) Burke or whatever he was calling himself at the time got money by Il Berto who knew the answer to the question before he ever asked it. Secondly, traditionally there has to be some sort of electoral bounce for having a leader come from a certain area i.e. Lynch in Cork, this isn't going to happen unless South Armagh begins electing TDs.

It will be Biffo and start locking up your children.

I forgot to say about Dermot Ahern, that a song by Carly Simon comes to mind "You're so vain". There must be some modesty vacuum in the room that himself and Peter Vain NI Secretary are in together.
