If Ireland was a soccer league team.

I guess that given the money that the global economy has put into our hands over the last 15 years, we would have to consider ourselves as a Chelsea in terms of funding.

In terms of where we are in the league tables though we would be a Leeds United bottom or close to bottom of the tables for education, health, public transport and on the environment, rock bottom.

In terms of our Manager, a man with Mourhino's funding, Allardyce's way of doing business, Dennis Wise results and Steve Staunton's excuses.

Would Mourhino keep his job if Chelsea performed so badly and his line was "well we are doing better that when Ken Bates was here" ?

Interesting and quite pathetic that the only tables that are being dug up where we are anywhere near top are subjective ones like "quality of life" ! but on the the ones mentioned...NOTHING.

The Quality of Life polls are not subjective, but rather based on a series of financial, medical, infrastructural etec indicators.

One thing they don't take into consideration is the one subjective element that SHOULD be mentioned: the ************************ing weather, especially here on the west coast.

I think you'll find that life expectancy is related to health.

I think you'll find that scores in the PISA test are related to education.

The EIU scores are a mixture of the subjective and the objective. The book in which they're published describes them thus:

Described in THE WORLD IN 2005 as:

"an index based on a unique methodology that links the results of subjective ife-satisfaction
surveys to the following objective determinants of quality of life across countries:

    (1) material well-being
    (2) health
    (3) political stability and security
    (4) family life
    (5) community life
    (6) climate and geography
    (7) job security
    (8) political freedom
    (9) gender equality".
