Sister of candidate to chair TV debate ....

    Q.Where in the world?

No, it's not ORTF under de Gaulle... nor Gostel under Brezhnev ... nor RAI under the Italian Christian Democrats... Sure, not even Papa Doc would have chanced his arm at it with RTV Haiti.

Yes, where the crucial TV debate involving the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition is supposed to be chaired impartially by a sister of a candidate of the Prime Minister's party!

    A. Bertie Ahern ... Jim O'Callaghan ... RTE ... and Miriam O'Callaghan. Good old Raidio Telefis Banana Republic....

    Why not Mark Little?
John Gormley. The lights may be on, but there's no one at home....

I don't share the political views of my immediate family, do you?

More importantly, do you think that people necessarily share the views of a family member?

I think you need to give Miriam some credit here.

It may be old news, but it's not commonly known. I consider myself very well informed - hey, I AM very well informed, but I didn't know that. There's plenty of other people who could chair it - Brian Dobson, Cathal MacCoille, Anie Lawlor (she's be great!) or even hire in Jeremy Paxman for the night. Can you imagine the expression on his face as he listens to the stream of consciousness that Bertie is renowned for?! Sorry, she has to be biased towards FF, off with her head!

I mentioned Paxman last week also on another thread. Surprised FG are so quiet about it. She always appears easy on FF.

Its a bit strange but in Kildare South two brothers are running for different parties. It is possible to have different views from your siblings.

Its a bit like stupid soccer/rugby rules that require the ref to be from a different country for the sake of it, rather than having the best ref regardless of nationality.

These professionals are paid to be impartial, and to suggest otherwise is an insult.

Miriam is also a mother of quite a large family...I don't think she should be allowed to speak about issues relating to childcare, or indeed anything of a social nature - tainted as she is by her offspring

The appearance of impartially should be enough to have a different moderator.
