Do we need a new political party?

As someone not voting Fianna Fáil in the election, the oppsition are not setting me alight either. Is it time for a new political party for a 21st century Ireland?

We need a new PD type political party that is economically right wing, however this will be easier said than done.

As for the election I will be voting FG or right wing independent, but I will transfer to FF after that as I don't want to see the rise of labour of SF to totally compound the damage to our economy.

I think that there is room for at least two new parties. One which Eurosceptic but not in a petty 18th century nationalist kind of way. There's also room for a proper "liberal" party, the kind of party the PDs aspired to being 25 years ago, before they went rogue.
The Mahon Tribunal found Olivia Mitchell to have received an inappropriate payment from Frank Dunlop at the time of the 1992 Election. F.G. Gael has taken no action against her.

Do you not see FG as right wing enough?

I don't think we need a new party; we need a few of them.

Many of the people I talk with are confused about who they should vote for because the political parties in Ireland don't represent all of the peoples views or opinions.

For example, there are no Libertarian parties. Or even a party that promotes civil liberties with some control over the economy. I'm still waiting for such a party.

That is exactly the party I'm looking for.

Hairshirt budgets from here to stay regardless of who is in power.
Vote for the political party that you believe will better able to attract foreign investment, promote economic growth, stimulate the market to create jobs and restore consumer confidence.
Do not vote for any parties who you believe will scare away foreign investors, stifle the domestic economy, hold up job creation and kill consumer confidence.
If you can't make up your mind and vote for nobody, then STFU.

Since I began to have a vote I was a FF supporter, then I supported the PD's from 1987 until 2002 and then back to FF, but what I have seen and heard over the past 2 yrs, I definetly will not ever vote FF again. I have a great interest in Irish politics and I am of the strong belief that we need a new party but it is too late now to get one in place for this election. My only alternative now is to vote FG or a strong Independent. FF days are over for me.

Well as a college student, not much time to even begin thinking of a starting point however I'm trying to build consensus on here to see what is lacking in Irish political society.
