RedC Poll for PaddyPower - 27% favour David Norris for President, 12% for Bertie

A RedC Poll for Paddy Power released today shows that 27% of people polled would vote for David Norris to be President.

Fine Gael's Mairead McGuinness is the second favoured person to move into the Aras, with 13% support.

Bertie Ahern is on 12%, Brian Crowley is on 10% whilst support for Labour's Michael D. Higgins and Fergus Finlay is split (earning Labour 20% of support overall).

Support for Bertie is strongest amongest younger people, and support for Norris is spread across party loyalities, apparently with the exception of Fianna Fail.

So FF voters are most conservative, is the implication? Thought FG would have been. Their demographic seems to be shifting, given the age demographic of FG voters in the latest poll. Interesting. Delighted to see Norris doing so well.

I still haven't worked out how Norris can get himself nominated.

Had the post of President more substantial powers I'd reconsider voting for Norris.

But given it's current status I'd be delighted for him to represent us on an international stage.

David Norris has been a consistent champion for human rights.

He is a terrific speaker, and can be very funny.

Surely not David Norris? For the love of God people catch yerselves on.

I heard him on the radio discussing Bono. Only Daid couldn't say 'Bono'. Everytime he referred to him he called him Bo-no. There isn't a single person in Ireland that would get Bono's name wrong unintentionally. That made me think - Norris, don't be such a ****************************** and pronounce his name right, you know damn well how to pronounce it.
