Results Day - be part of it!

Many people from Politics.ie are going to be Tallying and/or present at the various count centres accross the country on the 25th of May - I'll be present in Dublin I expect, and (for example) kerrynorth will be in Kerry. We need Piesters from accross the country to keep the site up to date with what's happening from each count centre.

So we need people who can text Politics.ie results, gossips and happenings.

If you'd like to take part, drop me an email (david@politics.ie) or send me a private message.

There's no reason they shouldn't. Its not like it is going to effect the results.

I'm not sure what use being dishonest would be. It's not like the voters are in a position to change their minds at that point.
Dan Sullivan. I was back but we still couldn't all have a vote.

A funny story comes to mind........

many years ago at a count the daughter of a candidate was tallying a box from her own area........when she didnt see votes for her mother she started to tick other peoples votes against her mothers name.............we were really suprised by the tally and indeed ours was way out compared to labour.............

when the first count was declared her mother got less than 130 votes!

I remember when I was counting the votes in the '02 election, this woman was caught red handed for turning a couple of blind eyes on an FF vote.

I was told this by another Tally Man:
"The tally Men are very strict on this and anyone who thinks they could have gotten away with turning a blind eye on votes during the counting process is wrong."

Hense the need to compare tallies from different parties. Its really silly to deliberately count the votes incorrectly.

All, do none of you think it odd, that even after all the votes have been counted, all the parties on count day seem to stilll talk up their chances of "talking the final seat" as if casting doubts on doing so is somehow going to affect their chances.

So for instance on the count morning no doubt we will hear of how bad Mc Dowell is doing in the early boxes, based on a shinners wishful thinking or how poor Mary Lou is tallying based on a pd and so on.
