    FF, SF Coalition Government

I know Bertie has repeatedly said no, but the result is likely to be tight and I think if his back is to the wall he'll cut a deal with the Shinners.

In such a scenario, which ministries are the Provos likely to be given? I assume there's an understanding on all sides that Justice and Defence are out?

Absolutely no chance of a FF-SF government. No point in even speculating

Correct. Next Government will be FF/Labour coalition.

Lads get real - an FF SF coalition is a distinct possibility. I find the whole dismissing of SF particularly hypocritical given Fianna Fail's 'slightly constitutional' history.
SF are a legitimate party and while I dont want to see either party in power, that does not mean that it will not happen.

Mystic meg? Well done. Any government in the past 25 years plus could have been FF-Lab. Its always easy to predict something that has a 100% probability. Isnt a strange that something with a 100% probability isnt the most likely option with the bookies and poltiical analysts alike?

    Strange.

As opposed to your "no chance of a FF-SF government'?

Look, if FF needed SF to get back into Govt they would approach them regardless of what they are saying now. Same goes for FG and Labour. If the only way the numbers stacked up was to go in with SF they wouldsuddenly find their objections being sorted out.

At the end of the day, while FG will gain seats this time out, Labour and the greens wont do so in sufficient numbers to allow a FG/Lab/Green coalition. FF and PDs will lose too much to go back into power. FF and SF wont have enough between them even with 5 or 6 SF gains. The only realistic coalition will be FF/Lab unless of course FG swallow their pride and go in with FF which probbaly makes most sense policy wise.

Okay, so I'll have to speculate myself: how about Caoimhin O'Caolain in Health, Mary Lou in Education and O'Snodaigh in the Gaeltacht?

Bertie may be untouchable to Labour after the election, but I still think it would be a remote possibility for Fianna Fáil and Sinn Féin to form a government.

Perhaps, the solution could be a minority Fianna Fáil government supported by Sinn Féin and some independents.

Well I remember not so long ago "no coaliton" was a Fianna Fail core value - then Charlie, in a tight corner, threw this core value out the window and struck a deal with his arch-enemy, Dessie.

So mark my words - if Bertie were to find himself in a similar predicament after the election then he'd sup with Satan himself if it meant clinging on to power.
