Opposition must accuse of FF of making leaks

The Opposition are walking into a bear trap.

Bertie is heading to the Northern Assembly on the back of a widely held view that he is the target of a dirty tricks campaign. He will be seen as a wounded hero fighting for peace in our time.

FF know the voters are now pissed off with the media and will vote FF to vent their ire. FF TDs have a spring in their step again.

The Opposition must call Bertie out. FF are making the leaks to curry public sympathy for Bertie. This claim has to be made by the Opposition. It doesn't matter if it can't be backed up. FF can't back up their claims that its someone in FG.

This election is slipping away, and the Opposition don't even know it.

You keep on posting this conspiracy theory.

So, to set your mind at rest, FF are not responsible for the leaks. Neither are FG for that matter.

The opposition can't call Bertie out. Bertie hasn't said anything. They can only challange him if he were to talk about the Tribunal issues. And he's keeping quiet. Bertie never does anything by coincidence. Everything he does is calculated and well thought out. He's keeping quiet for the moment and as a result the opposition can't "call him out"

It doesn't matter who is responsible. What matters now is that the electorate think that someone is out to get Bertie. The counter claim needs to be made to plant a seed of doubt before Bertie goes to Stormount.

Calling him out means accusing FF of orchestrating this campaign to protect him.

Some of us believe in actually saying what's true, rather thany bandying about daft conspiracy theories for the sake of electoral advantage.

It's one of the many things that seperate FG from the present government parties.

Well Enda Kenny on RTE1 has just accused McDowell himself of being behind the leaks - clever move. Avoids having a pop at Ahern, (which would probably gain him even more sympathy), and instead picks a target that the electorate a) see as a muppet after recent events; and b) couldn't possibly have any sympathy for. And if McDowell charges outta the traps with a denial, no-one will believe him anyway.

    Nice move Enda.

Another thing that separates FG from the present Government is the the fact that FG haven't won an election in over 20 years.

You'll have plenty of time for hubris when you're back in Opposition.

There's another party on this island that had to wait even longer before winning an election. They're doing okay now I suppose.

Pat Rabbite (if I understood him correctly) just said there were no senior FG or Labour people anywhere near St Lukes when the leaking happened. This is a very interesting statement.

My information at the time of the original Bertigate, from a very senior political figure, was that the leaks were coming from a source very close to Bertie.

Since then a number of FF politicians have confirmed that the source is from inside FF, although some claim it is from an anti-Ahern faction.

You will notice that the claim that it is coming from FG is coming from known gobsh!tes in FF - Micheal Martin, Noel Ahern, etc. The muck is about to hit the fan, and the attempt to smear the opposition is a damage limitation exercise.
